I was born and raised in the western suburbs of Sydney.
From an early age I became aware of a passion for drawing and painting, demonstrating
a talent which was encouraged by my grandmother’s belief in my ability.
Schooldays were often filled with cartoons being presented to mates used as ammunition
against peers.
Leaving school at the ripe age of 14, and after many job disappointments, I took up a
career as a mixer at Arnott’s biscuits.
After 15 years of the indoor confinement of factory work, I threw fate to the wind to follow my real love and pursue a career in art ,beginning in 1975.
Those early days were a burden financially, and with a mortgage and a family to consider,
this forced me to an almost single minded attempt to overcome early difficulties of
learning my trade.Persistence paid off after many failures and heartbreaks.
In 1976 I was approached to do my first one man exhibition at the Geo. Styles Gallery.
This exhibition was a resounding success, and so began my career in landscape painting
with a passion still rich and alive today.
My life in art has seen many campfires with artist friends, camaraderie filled with laughter ,
visual enchantment of surrounding subjects ,and the occasional songs by firelight with James Wynne.
Painting trips were a regular occurrence and never less than 7 artists enjoyed the days of joy
and wonder painting in the outdoors.
I have drunk from the cup of life capturing the beauty of this rich land. I will never forget
these moments, nor the people who shared them with me, some of whom I don’t see as
much now, but I thank them for all those great moments.
Art has enriched my life and so have the artists who have entered it……..
I look forward to the challenges that art brings with every new subject ,and many more
journeys with friends in the attempt to reach the ultimate challenges nature has to offer.
I AM INDEED …BLESSED
